Joe Hittinger (he/him) is a Project Manager on the Heavy Industry team at Global Energy Monitor, focusing on global chemical manufacturing. Before joining GEM, Joe worked as an industrial decarbonization consultant at an energy consulting firm. He was also an early team member at an MIT startup, where he contributed as a research scientist developing a novel process for producing zero-carbon cement using renewable electricity.
Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Vanderbilt University and a PhD in chemical engineering from Tulane University. His doctoral research focused on creating innovative methods to recycle waste plastics into sustainable fuels and chemicals.
