Hailey Deres

Senior Researcher

Hailey (she/her) joined GEM as a researcher in May 2023. In this role, Hailey leverages past experience in climate and research to support the Special Projects and Renewables & Other Power teams. Prior to joining GEM, Hailey worked at the Southeastern Wind Coalition, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the wind energy industry across the Southeastern United States. In this role, she led the organization’s coalition-building work in Virginia and South Carolina.

Hailey received a degree in Earth Systems from Stanford University in 2019. Throughout her undergraduate career, Hailey supported research efforts in geology and environmental engineering labs focused on understanding past extinction events and empowering citizen scientists. Her thesis focused on the effects of climate change and fisheries management strategies on red abalone populations along the West Coast.
