Sophie Lu (she/her) joined Global Energy Monitor as Researcher for the Renewable and Other Power team in 2023. Prior to joining GEM, Sophie worked as a Business Development Manager for a French high-tech textile manufacturer, where she managed markets in East Asia’s industrial sector. Her work experience fueled her passion for sustainability and climate change, prompting her to pursue a master’s degree in International Relations and Economics at Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
During her studies, Sophie concentrated on Energy, Resources, and Environment and conducted an Urban Conflict Prevention Analysis for DAI in her second year. Her analysis explored the complex intersection between urban conflict, natural resources management and climate change. She is from Taiwan and fluent in Mandarin, English, and Korean.
