Erica Scott-Adjei (she/her) joins Global Energy Monitor as Chief Development Officer, bringing 20 years of experience advancing fundraising strategy, stakeholder engagement, and philanthropic investment across nonprofit, advocacy, and civic sectors.

As Chief Development Officer, Erica will lead GEM’s global efforts to strengthen and diversify our philanthropic partnerships, helping ensure that our open-access trackers, maps, and datasets remain robust, reliable, and freely accessible to the people and institutions working to accelerate the energy transition.

At a time when the energy transition and the information landscape around it are evolving rapidly, strengthening how we sustain and scale our work is essential. Bringing Erica on as Chief Development Officer is a deliberate investment in GEM’s next phase, ensuring we have the partnerships and resources in place to deepen our impact globally,” said Justin Locke, Executive Director of Global Energy Monitor

Erica has advised organizations, donors, and leadership teams on building durable revenue models and aligning resources with mission and long-term impact. Her work focuses on helping leaders navigate complexity, particularly during periods of growth, transition, and heightened public visibility.

Her experience includes work at the intersection of climate, energy, and environmental justice, including campaigns to expand access to renewable energy and advocacy alongside communities disproportionately impacted by fossil fuel infrastructure.

“Growing up in an environmental justice community, I saw firsthand how access to reliable information can shape decisions that affect people’s lives. That’s one reason that GEM’s mission resonates so deeply with me. I’m excited to join GEM at such a pivotal moment for the energy transition and build partnerships that keep our data independent and accessible to the communities, researchers, and decision-makers who rely on it to inform decisions shaping our collective future,” said Erica Scott-Adjei.

A Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®) and a 21/64 Certified Advisor in Multigenerational Philanthropy, Erica also advises individuals and families on values-aligned giving and long-term philanthropic strategy.

In addition to her advisory work, she designs and delivers training for nonprofit leaders, fundraising teams, and campaign professionals on revenue strategy, governance, and organizational effectiveness. She has presented at national conferences including Grantmakers in Health and Netroots Nation, addressed donor audiences at Harvard, and testified before multiple state legislatures.

A multilingual communicator, Erica is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Italian and Portuguese. She has served as a media spokesperson for outlets including NPR, MSNBC, NBC’s Today Show, Bloomberg Radio, The Boston Globe, and USA Today.
